Subnet Update

@Unknown The team at the HIP Subnet have conducted a thorough audit of the code & performed multiple simulations to come to the conclusion that there is no bug that is causing the sudden drop in emissions.

At this stage, we are quite confident the sudden drop in emissions is due to the penalization of miners not responding to prompts. At this stage miners are required to answer prompts for approximately 8 hours per day to avoid penalization.

In hindsight, we understand that this may be a huge ask off our human miners to begin with and we will aim to release our next update with a more relaxed approach where the entry level for participation is remarkably lower given the amount of emissions miners will be mining.

For now, we will be turning registration back to normal and we will be coding more updates. This more relaxed incentive mechanism can be expected in about a weeks time with others.

Thanks for your participation and patience. Watch this space..

@Unknown Hello HIPsters. As advised the HIP team has turned miner registration back on and adjusted the min burn hyperparameter to 10t.

If miners could still persist with answering prompts and report in whether they are still experiencing the sudden drop in emissions bug that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your patience. 🙏🏼

@Unknown Hello HIPsters, we apologize about the current bug some people are experiencing. The HIP team has identified the bug most likely being connected with new registrations & affecting existing miners.

In lieu of this, we have paused miner registration of the subnet momentarily until we fix the root cause. We like to thank you all for your participation in the subnet and we foresee registrations being turned back on by around Monday evening (if not earlier). This should be the last patch before the subnet is humming along.

Stick with us. The best it yet to come! Embrace your inner HIPster 😎

@Unknown

We will soon be launching the first Confidential Decentralized AI Swarms on the testnet.

Requirements:

  1. To run a node on the network you need have direct access to the server on prem or with complete dedicated hosting with nothing running in the background from the cloud provider

  2. To maintain confidentiality of user data on Nodes, Our hypervizers can only run on certain chips as of now, Any AMD EPYC CPU which has SEV - SNP can support our hypervizer. That may include chips from 3 years ago or above milan

  3. You can run as many nodes connected to a miner on the network so get access to as many amd sev servers as possible but speed of ram and ssd are also important.

  4. We cannot run any gpu on the network so our Hypervizer currently only supports H100 and above. So if you if you want to run a gpu it needs to be connected to a amd sev server.

Intel and arm comming soon....

@Unknown

The bug causing validators to score miners with empty scores has been resolved! The validators must update their code in for this to work.

Any validators viewing this chat, please update!

The miners should work regardless of the update!

Cheers guys

@Unknown I apologise for the mishap with the new update. This was my fault. The environment I was testing in was outdated and reflected different outputs to our other dev and the main-net.

The bugs have been resolved now.

When you do the update try this sequence.

  1. Stop your miner/validator
  2. Git pull (latest repo)
  3. Re-install packages: pip install -e .
  4. Restart your miner/validator

This should fix the errors.

Again i am really sorry about the issues you all faced and i have put measures in place to prevent this from happening again.

  • Miners consistently providing correct answers will accumulate higher rewards over time.
  • Inactive or underperforming miners will see their relative rewards decrease.

Optimized Miner and Validator Performance:

  • Refactored code for better efficiency and readability.
  • Fixed minor bugs
  • Improved logging and error handling for easier debugging.

Database Enhancements:

  • Migrated from TinyDB to SQLite for better scalability and performance.
  • Implemented database schema checks and automatic cleanup of expired tasks.

Frontend Updates:

  • Updated the miner frontend to integrate with the new database.
  • Minor bug fixes.

Please update your miner and validator to the latest version to use these improvements. If you encounter any issues or have feedback, please don't hesitate to submit an issue or pull request via the Github repo. https://github.com/HIP-Labs/HIP-Subnet

HIP Subnet Version 1.20 Update 10/06/24

Please pull the latest update from our GitHub repository.

We're excited to announce the release of HIP Subnet Version 1.20, which includes significant improvements and bug fixes:

  1. Validator Crash Fix and Code Refactoring: We have addressed and refactored the code responsible for causing the validator to crash 50% of the time while rewarding miner performance. This issue previously resulted in only half of the tasks being rewarded on-chain. The fix ensures more reliable and consistent reward distribution.

  2. Enhanced Error Handling for Task Generation: Better error handling has been implemented for task generation through the LLM (Language Learning Model). Previously, the LLM sometimes hallucinated or generated random data, which, when converted to synapse, caused the validator server to crash and resulted in a 3-minute delay before task generation resumed. This issue has been resolved by validating the data first. In case of errors, the data is now regenerated, preventing server crashes and reducing delays.

A big thankyou to @Discord User for your contribution in bug reports and fixes to this update.

Thank you all for your continued support and feedback. We are committed to improving the HIP Subnet and are grateful to be here with you on Bittensor!

Subnet Update

@Unknown Quick update on the HIP Subnet 08/06/24.

Version 1.1.0 released!

Please pull the latest update to ensure you are receiving rewards correctly.

Commands to update:

  1. cd HIP-Subnet

  2. git pull

There has been some important fixes to the code:

  • replaced string capitalization with the upper() function to properly format the captcha value received from miners.

  • Resolved a subscriptable bug that was causing the validator to crash. The bug stemmed from how miner UIDs were being indexed when calculating rewards.

Validators should be scoring miners correctly now. Keep an eye out and let us know if you notice any other issues.

Thanks for your patience and support!
